A one-way northbound traffic flow will be created in Theatre Street and Bowling Green Street while major gas mains renewal work takes place between July 16 and October 12. Some bus services will not being able to serve Warwick Bus Station.

The following buses, the G1 and X17 (both terminate at the bus station), the 16, 18/18A and 68 (all southbound journeys) will be unable to serve the bus station during this period. Alternative stopping arrangements for passengers and layover points for buses have been agreed with bus operator Stagecoach.

Service G1 (Warwick-Leamington-South Farm)
This service will terminate and start from one minute later than Warwick Bus Station time, at the Saltisford (‘Kings Head’) stop and not serve Warwick Bus Station. The two late evening journeys extended beyond Warwick to Hatton Park or Wellesbourne will operate via The Butts, Castle Hill, Jury Street and High Street to regain normal route.

Service X17
This service will operate as normal to Cape Road then turn left into Northgate and terminate at the Warwick (Priory Road) stop arriving two minutes earlier than shown at Warwick (Bus Station). Passengers can therefore alight from the bus at the following three bus stops.
Outside Cape Road Clinic where they can use the walkway through Priory Mews to North Rock and then use Barrack Street or Theatre Street to access the town centre.

They can if they wish stay on the bus and alight at the Castle Hill bus stop.
Journeys continuing to Forbes Estate and/or Stratford will do so via The Butts, Castle Hill, turn at the Castle island, Castle Hill, Jury Street and High Street.
On the return journey, buses will depart Warwick (Priory Road) two minutes earlier than the time shown for Warwick (Bus Station) and travel via St Nicholas Church Street to the Castle Hill bus stop, departing at the scheduled Warwick (Bus Station) time. Buses will then use The Butts, Northgate, North Rock, turn at the Saltisford island and come back up North Rock to resume normal route. Passengers can board the bus using either the Castle Hill bus stop or the North Rock bus stop.

Service 16 (Coventry-Kenilworth-Warwick-Stratford)
Service 18 (Leamington-Warwick-Stratford)
Service 68 (Cubbington-Leamington-Warwick-Hatton Park)
These services will be diverted from Warwick (Castle Hill) via Jury Street and High Street.  Return journeys will continue to use the existing route via Warwick (Bus Station).

Service 18A (Leamington-Warwick Hospital-Warwick-Stratford)
This evening and Sunday service will operate as normal to Cape Road then turn left into Northgate, The Butts, Castle Hill, turn at the Castle island, Castle Hill, Jury Street and High Street. Return journeys will continue to use the existing route via Warwick (Bus Station).

It is proposed that a temporary bus stop will be created in High Street by Stagecoach, situated outside the Warwick Arms Hotel and opposite the junction with Swan Street. The 16, 18/18A and 68 southbound buses will use this stop.

Cllr Alan Cockburn, Warwickshire County Council’s portfolio holder for Environment and Economy, said: “We recognise these temporary arrangements are not ideal but as the transport authority we have to manage the problems likely to be caused to bus services and passengers by these road works.

“The layout of Warwick town centre streets, some of which are narrow and one way, make this very difficult as does balancing the timetable running requirements of the bus operator with the needs of passengers. We believe these arrangements are the most appropriate and reasonable given the circumstances.”
