Here comes summer

Rugby schoolchildren can take advantage of the opportunity to gain a range of new skills or just have fun as cluster co-ordinators throughout the borough organise a wide range of activities at Lawrence Sheriff School as part of the Here Comes Summer activity scheme.

The five cluster co-ordinators, who work with Warwickshire County Council’s extended services team, in the Rugby borough have joined forces with Lawrence Sheriff School for the first two weeks of the summer holidays - Monday 26th July -Friday 6th August.

The scheme is for 5 to 11 year olds and covers a varied menu of activities such as cooking, arts, science, circus skills, music and sports.  Each session which lasts from 9am until 4pm will cost £15 and can be booked on an individual basis.  Arrangements can be made for early drop off and late collection at a small additional cost.

Claire Naidoo, the extended services cluster co-ordinator for Bilton, said:  “The summer holiday can be a long period for families to provide children with stimulating activities.  And they can be a long period for children who are looking for things to do.

“Everybody benefits from this scheme; children have great fun and parents can relax knowing that their children are being looked after.”

Cllr Heather Timms, portfolio holder for Children, Young People and Families with Warwickshire County Council said:  “Here Comes Summer has wonderful benefits; it is available across the whole of Rugby and, with the extensive arrangements for childcare, every effort has been made to encourage participation.

“It will give children the opportunity to enjoy themselves with their peers from other communities in the area and can only be good for building cohesion in the borough.”
