People get say on High Speed Rail & more

The proposed High Speed Rail 2 link, Police priorities, community safety and more will be on the agenda at the next meeting of the Warwick Rural East Community Forum on Thursday 22 July.

The Forum will be held at Radford Semele Village Hall from 7pm.

The meeting is open to all residents living in and around the villages of Cubbington, Blackdown, Old Milverton, Bubbenhall, Wappenbury, Weston, Eathorpe, Offchurch, Hunningham, Radford Semele and Stoneleigh, and will be Chaired by Warwick District Councillor Michael Doody.

Community Forums are regular public meetings that allow you to raise issues or local concerns and are a way of keeping you up-to-date with what is happening in YOUR community.

From 7pm, residents will be able to talk to the Police about any individual or confidential issues they may have at an informal surgery, before the Forum meeting starts at 7.30pm.

Local people will be able to have their say on the top priorities that the Warwick Rural East Safer Neighbourhood Team should focus their efforts on in the local area over the next few months. The Team plays a central role in the Community Forum, attending every meeting, both to talk about their work over the previous three months and to gauge concerns from local people.

Residents will also receive information from Warwickshire County Council about the proposed High Speed Rail 2 and have the opportunity to ask questions. The Preferred Option route suggests a significant impact for Warwick Rural East.

Warwickshire County Council has asked for information relating to the environmental and atmospheric impacts resulting from high speed rail, and has also asked for evidence of the suggested ‘economic benefits’. The council has a webpage that itemises the content of responses it sends to HS2 Ltd: http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/hs2

Residents at the meeting will also be able to influence which local groups and projects receive funding from the Forum Grant Fund. The Community Forum holds a pot of money to support local projects and tackle issues raised as priorities in Warwick Rural East.

Other items on the agenda include an update on community safety activities in the area from Warwick District Council, and a report from Warwickshire County Council and Warwick District Council on the impact of finances on service delivery.
