Ofsted hands out a glowing report

A Warwickshire primary school has been praised by government inspectors for significant improvements since the last inspection.

Ofsted inspectors visited Brailes C of E Primary School last month and found that detailed and accurate assessment systems have been used to help pupils make good progress. They said that teaching is now consistently good and this has also contributed to pupils’ better achievement.

Since the last inspection in February 2007 standards in reading, writing and mathematics have improved. The progress of children with special educational needs now matches that of other children.

Children in the Early Years Foundation Stage are also making good progress because of good provision and teaching.

The Ofsted report said that the school has good pastoral care for its pupils; they behave well, enjoy learning and have positive attitudes about the school.

The school also benefits from a good leadership team which has improved since the last inspection, led by the Headteacher who has clear educational direction. Most parents are pleased with the education provided by the school and particularly appreciate how the school keeps their children safe and happy.

Headteacher Sarah Plaskitt said: “We are so pleased that Ofsted have recognised the hard work of all the staff and children since the last inspection. Brailes is a good school that is making good progress and it is very rewarding to have that recognised by the Ofsted inspectors. We hope to go from strength to strength in the coming years.”
