Public meetings have been arranged to give local people in Nuneaton and Bedworth further opportunity to ask questions and have their say on proposals to increase charges for some adult services - including home, day and respite care.
The charging consultation meetings will take place from 2-4pm and from 5-7pm on Wednesday 18 August at Hatters Space Community Centre, Upper Abbey Street, Nuneaton, CV11 5DN.
Cllr Izzi Seccombe, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Adult, Health and Community Services, said: “We want to give every opportunity for people to have their say and in addition to the meetings, people can comment on the proposals by telephone, post and email.
"The meetings are part of a three-month public consultation on the proposed changes. All feedback received will be reported to members of Warwickshire County Council’s Cabinet before they make a final decision in October."
Warwickshire County Council is facing severe budgetary pressures as a result of the economic downturn and the proposals, if implemented, would help make significant savings.
Other local authorities already charge their customers more. More information on the proposed changes, and a consultation questionnaire, are available online at: http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/socialcarecharges.
Paper copies of an information leaflet, containing the consultation questionnaire, have been posted to more than 6,000 service-users and are also available in all Warwickshire libraries and many doctors’ surgeries.
A helpline for service-users and their families is also available during the three-month consultation, with staff available to respond to queries at the following times:
9.00am - 12.30pm.
Answer phone 12.30pm - 5.00pm.
9.00am -12.30pm - answer phone only.
The helpline number is: 01926 418661.
