Police services to remain at Shire Hall
Police enquiry services in Warwick are to remain at Shire Hall it has been decided.
The services were relocated from Warwick police station in December 2009 to operate along side Warwickshire Direct, and the move has proved so successful that Warwickshire Police and Warwickshire County Council have agreed to continue.
The initiative was the first of its kind in Warwickshire and offers the public access to many services under one roof.
Between December 7 and July 17,642 customers have accessed policing services at Shire Hall.
Public feedback is positive and customer satisfaction surveys show a 89% overall satisfaction rate.
Customers find the staff caring, friendly and efficient.
The only change being considered relates to is the reporting of road traffic collisions.
On average only one has been reported each month which makes it an unsustainable service due to the level of staff training required.
This service will now be removed from Shire Hall and all collisions will now be dealt with at Leamington police station.
Policing services still available at Warwickshire Direct, Shire Hall are:
Crime and incident reporting, document production, lost and found property, getting in touch with local officers and the Safer Neighbourhood teams, reporting antisocial behaviour and noise, applying for pedlars certificates, firearms licences and making data protection requests.
The most popular services have been lost and found property and crime and incident reporting.
Inspector Emma Bastone said: "I am really pleased that this initiative is now a permanent arrangement. The team at Shire Hall is extremely professional and members have taken on policing services with great enthusiasm.
"This collaborative way of working gives us exciting opportunities for the future in other areas of the county to improve service delivery to the public".
Councillor Colin Hayfield, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Customers, Workforce & Partnerships, said: “It’s good news that this partnership between Warwickshire Direct and Warwickshire Police has been successful and well received by the public.
“The police services available from the front desk at Shire Hall compliment the many other council services that the public can access from there. This is about improving access to services for our residents, so I’m very pleased that it will continue.”
