Need for speed volunteers in Whitnash

Whitnash Community Forum is on the look out for local people who are willing to give up a small amount of time to monitor the problem of speeding vehicles around the town.

Speeding is one of the priority problems that have been identified by the Community Forum, with a number of residents expressing concern.

As a direct result, a Community Speed Watch scheme is now being set up in Whitnash, with the support of Warwickshire Police. The initiative involves people from the community monitoring the speed of vehicles on local roads with approved speed measurement devices.

Where speeds are inappropriate, notice is sent to the drivers by Warwickshire Police with the aim of encouraging drivers to reduce their speed in the future.

The Community Forum is looking for at least six volunteers from Whitnash who will be prepared to give up around two hours a week to be involved with the scheme. Training and insurance are provided.

A special drop-in session for people thinking of volunteering, who would like to find out more, has been organised for Wednesday 11th August between 5.30pm and 7.15pm at Whitnash Community Centre, Acre Close.

There are 30 Community Forums across Warwickshire and local residents are encouraged to go along and have their say on any local issues, as well as set local priorities.

At each Forum meeting, local people can have their say on the top priorities that their Safer Neighbourhood Team should focus their efforts on in the local area over the next few months.
