Bus service for Chase Meadow

Warwick’s Chase Meadow estate is to get a new bus service from next month.

Since June 2008, Warwickshire County Council has funded a temporary minibus service (number 70) to operate between Warwick bus station and the Chase Meadow doctors’ surgery.

This service was started after Stagecoach withdrew from serving the estate because its buses had suffered damage from the unfinished nature of many of the roads during the construction phase.

The state of the roads has now improved enough for Stagecoach to agree to return to serving Chase Meadow. The minibus will cease operating on Friday 3 September.

Stagecoach will be starting its service on Monday 6 September by extending the commercial X17 service from Warwick bus station to serve both the Chase Meadow and Forbes Estates, with alternate journeys going onto Hampton Magna and Warwick Parkway.

Cllr Alan Cockburn, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environment and Economy, said: “I am delighted that Chase Meadow residents will now benefit from having a bus service restored to properly serve the estate.

"It is essential that a development of this size has a frequent bus service providing access to the main Warwick and Leamington town centres.”
