Warwickshire welcome’s a new Deputy Chief Fire Officer
Warwickshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service is this week welcoming the newly appointed Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Gary Phillips.
Gary will replace the previous Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Glen Ranger, who has now moved to Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service.
Appointed in August 2010 from the role of Assistant Chief Fire Officer at Suffolk Fire and Rescue, Gary joins Warwickshire with a wealth of experience, skills and knowledge in community fire safety.
Gary joined West Midlands Fire Service in 1984 moving on promotion to Suffolk in 2005. He has completed the Brigade Command Course and holds a MA in Management and a B.Eng (hons) Degree in Fire Engineering.
Gary has made significant achievements in making Suffolk a safer place through his passion and commitment to community safety. He has made substantial contribution to improving the service from a very low base in 2005 to one of the highest performing fire and rescue services in the country in 2010.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Gary Phillips said: "I am both delighted and excited to be joining a great team in Warwickshire. I have been very impressed with the energy and enthusiasm right throughout the service and I look forward to working with local residents and our firefighters to make help make Warwickshire safer.”
Portfolio Holder for Community Safety, Councillor Richard Hobbs said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Gary to Warwickshire. He has already been working closely with Graeme Smith and I feel confident that he will take forward his commitment to improving the safety of residents in Warwickshire."
