A-level success for Warwickshire
Thousands of students in Warwickshire will be celebrating today as they receive their A-level, AS-level and vocational results.
Around 3,500 17 and 18-year-olds completed their courses and took their exams earlier this year, at 21 schools and colleges around Warwickshire.
The county has not yet received the individual school results but indications suggest that pupils in county have again achieved impressive outcomes. The final details of the county’s performance will be available in the autumn.
Cllr Heather Timms, Warwickshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Families, said: “The information we have received so far appear to show that this year group in Warwickshire has produced another fantastic crop of results.
“Thousands of Warwickshire teenagers have worked very hard over the past year or two and we are extremely proud to see them succeed.
“Students who have attained other further education qualifications such as BTECs, and other vocational qualifications, should also be congratulated on their achievements. The expected good set of results is a testament not just to each individual’s hard work, but also to the first class teaching, support and encouragement provided by school and college staff, parents and carers.”
In addition to A-level students receiving their results today, students from across the post-16 sector have been receiving successful results from a range of vocationally related qualifications, including BTECs and National Vocational qualifications. Last year there were around 14,000 students aged 16 -18 in Warwickshire schools and colleges.
While many have gained the grades they need for higher education, there are those who have not achieved the outcomes as they had hoped. For those who did not, help is at hand at the Connexions service and through their schools and colleges.
Warwickshire County Council will be analysing the results over the coming weeks to assess the full countywide picture.
