The school holidays are here and Warwickshire’s Country Parks have lots of special events going on to keep everyone entertained.

All the event details are listed in a new bumper 45-page booklet is packed with things to do at all of Warwickshire County Council’s Country Parks during 2010.

MONDAY 23 AUGUST
Damsels and Dragons at Kingsbury Water Park
Swoop in to make a damsel/dragon fly hat or model to take home.  An event for children up to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time:  Drop in between 10.30 a.m. and 1.00 p.m.  Meet:  The Information Centre.  Cost:  £2.00 per child.

Rangers Rocket Challenge at Ryton Pools Country Park
Come and rummage in our robot spare parts junk pile and take on the challenge to make a new recycled robot to take home.  For children aged 5 to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time:  11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.  Meet:  The Visitor Centre.  Cost:  £3.00 per child.

TUESDAY 24 AUGUST

Woodland Dens at Kingsbury Water Park
Make a woodland den using branches and twigs.  Bring a snack to have in your den once the hard work is done.  A family event but not recommended for children under 5 years.
Time:  10.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon.  Meet:  The Education Centre.  Cost:  £3.00 per child.

Food Chain Lanterns at Ryton Pools Country Park
Find out who eats who in the pond, and make your own paper globe food chain lantern.  Then join the Ranger to see if you can find some of the creatures from your food chain in the pond outside.  For children aged 5 to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time:  11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.  Meet:  The Visitor Centre.  Cost:  £3.00 per child.

Animal Masks at Pooley Country Park
Come along and make your own animal mask, we’ve got lots to choose from.  An event for children up to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time:  Drop in between 1.00 p.m. and 3.30 p.m.  Meet:  The Visitor Centre.  Cost:  £2.00 per child.

WEDNESDAY 25 AUGUST
Kingsbury Water Park Young Anglers


All Sorts of Puppets at Ryton Pools Country Park
Have great fun cutting and sticking to make puppets on sticks, socks, hands and strings You can choose from spiders, scarecrows, snakes, dragons, caterpillars, birds and lots more.  For children aged 3 to 12 years, who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time:  Drop in between 11.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m.  Meet:  The Visitor Centre. 
Cost:  £2.00 per child (includes 2 items, additional items £1.00 each).

Wizard Staffs & Fairy Sparklers at Pooley Country Park
Join us to transform plain hazel and willow sticks into glitzy fairy wands and fiery wizard staffs.  A family event.
Time:  10.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon.  Meet:  The Visitor Centre.  Cost:  £3.00 per child.

Camouflaged Moths at Ryton Pools Country Park
Have a close look at what was caught in our moth traps set the night before.  Make a giant camouflaged moth and bring it to life on your arm.  For children aged 5 to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.

Barmy Beetle Trail at Kingsbury Water Park
Collect your trail sheet from the Information Centre, find the missing facts to crack the code and claim your prize.  A self led trail for children up to 12 years
Cost:  £1.50 per trail sheet.

FRIDAY 27, SATURDAY 28 & SUNDAY 29 AUGUST
Terrific Toad Trail at Ryton Pools Country Park
Follow our warty toad trail and find out some terrific facts about toads.  Suitable for children aged 3 to 12 years.  Trail sheets available from the Visitor Centre between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m.
Cost:  £1.50 per trail sheet.

SATURDAY 28/SUNDAY 29 AUGUST
Night Fishing Sessions at Kingsbury Water Park See 26 June for details, but note change of times.
Time:  6.30 a.m. on Saturday through to 7.30 p.m. on Sunday.

MONDAY 30 AUGUST
Bank Holiday Fun Trail at Ryton Pools Country Park
Follow the clues around the park to crack the code and complete the challenge.  Suitable for children aged 3 to 12 years.  Trail sheets available from the Visitor Centre between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m.
Cost:  £1.50 per trail sheet.

TUESDAY 31 AUGUST
Twitchy Worms and Wriggly Caterpillars at Kingsbury Water Park
Make a twitchy worm or wriggly caterpillar out of lots of leaves – watch them dance!  An event for children up to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time:  Drop in between 10.30 a.m. and 1.00 p.m.  Meet:  The Information Centre.  Cost:  £2.00 per child.

Recycled Bugs on Sticks at Pooley Country Park
Drop in to make a big bug model on a stick from recycled materials and extra sparkly bits and bobs.  An event for children up to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
