“It’s not just cricket!” - Sport for All in Kineton

Warwickshire County Council’s Extended Services team, the cluster co-ordinator for the Kineton cluster and the School Sports Partnership have put on a month of sporting fun for Kineton kids over the summer holidays.

Having gained funding through the county’s Positive About Young People programme to run a greatly subsidised summer sports camp at Kineton High School for 4 weeks this summer.
It has been hailed a huge success. All 60 places have been fully booked for every single session.
Run by qualified sports coaches, and assisted by 6th form students from Kineton High School, the camp is open to young people between the ages of 8 and 13 from the local area.
The young people have taken part in a wide variety of sports - tennis, football, rugby, badminton, basketball, hockey, netball, dance, trampolining, dodge ball, golf, rowing.
Jo Rolls, cluster co-ordinator for Kineton, said:  “We have had some really positive feedback from parents, as well as the young people involved, and are hoping to be able to run similar camps over each school holiday.”

Two of the sporting stars backed up Jo’s words with Genevieve Dillon-Godfrey saying:  “Great variety of choice of sport, and there is always something for everyone to do.  The coaches are really nice and helpful.”
Sedona Short agreed, saying:  “It stops you being bored at home and you meet new friends.”
