Changes to the home wood chipping service
Warwickshire County Council’s popular Home Wood Chipping Service for processing green waste for householders is set to change to meet demand and improve its service to clients.
From mid-September the geographical areas will change and this will affect the days on which the service operates in different parts of the county. The service which operates daily, except weekends, will now cover the following areas on these days:
MONDAY: Stratford district, west of the A3400 and part of Warwick district.
TUESDAY: Rugby borough and Southam.
WEDNESDAY: North Warwickshire borough and Nuneaton & Bedworth.
THURSDAY: Stratford district east of the A3400 and part of Warwick district.
FRIDAY: Warwick district and part of Rugby borough.
County Forestry Officer Ken Simons said: “We are always looking at the service to improve its efficiency and to meet customer demand. These changes will result in shorter waiting times where the demand for the service is highest and the move away from political boundaries will mean less travelling time and help reduce our carbon footprint.”
The service will chip woody material up to 5” (13cm) diameter so that it can be used by the householder as a compost or weed suppressing mulch.
Householders who wish to use this service, which is charged at £20.00 per hour, can arrange a visit by phoning 01926 738827.
Securing a booking before carrying out any works is strongly advised as at certain times there can be a waiting list of up to three weeks.
