Last call for views on care charging
Warwickshire residents are being encouraged to have their say on proposals to increase care charges before a three-month public consultation ends on Friday 17 September.
As a result of severe budgetary pressures, the County Council is considering proposals to increase charges for adult home care, day care and respite care. The proposals would reduce current subsidies for customers over the next year and bring Warwickshire County Council into line with other local authorities already charging customers more. The proposals, if implemented, would help make significant savings.
More than 6,000 service-users have been written to and 21 meetings have been held with the public, service user groups and carers around the county.
To find out more about the proposed changes, and to access the consultation questionnaire, please log on to: http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/socialcarecharges
Paper copies of an information leaflet, containing the consultation questionnaire, are available in all Warwickshire libraries and many doctors’ surgeries.
People can also call a dedicated phone line which has been set up for customers and their families on 01926 418661. Staff will be available to answer queries Monday to Thursday from 9.30am to 12.30pm, with an answer-phone service from 12.30 pm until 5.00 pm. The answer-phone will also operate on Fridays from 9.00am until 5.00pm.
In addition, people can fax their message to 01926 742976, or email: customerfirst@warwickshire.gov.uk. Or if they would prefer to respond by post, the address is: Carer & Customer First Team, Adult Health & Community Services, Warwickshire County Council, Saltisford Office Park, Ansell Way, Warwick, CV34 4UL.
Feedback from the consultation will be reported to members of Warwickshire County Council’s Cabinet before they make a final decision in October.
Cllr Izzi Seccombe, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Adult, Health and Community Services, said: “It is not too late to have your say and Warwickshire residents are encouraged to share their views by email, post, fax and telephone before September 17."
