It’s “lights, camera, action” for youth arts in Warwickshire
Young artists, musicians and dancers from across the county have joined together to promote youth arts in Warwickshire.
They have created a film demonstrating how arts and culture is a positive way for young people to learn new skills, develop career paths and enjoy themselves, and that Warwickshire has a wealth of organisations keen to support them in achieving it.
It was developed through the Warwickshire Youth Arts Network partnership and produced by Beingfrank Youth Dance Company and Community Arts workshop.
The film features Beingfrank dancers free-running through variety of Warwickshire venues supporting the arts and cultural activity for children and young people.
Clare Mitchell, Youth Arts Development Worker for Warwickshire County Council’s Youth and Community Service, said: “Making this film has been a fantastic opportunity - we really got to see first hand how professional and determined young people can be when seriously asked to deliver.
“We were also enormously pleased to see how flexible and supportive all of the cultural venues were to the idea - it just goes to show Warwickshire is really ahead of the game when it comes to supporting young people’s creativity.”
Jonny Armstrong, one of the young, trained dancers featured in the film, said: “I never thought I would be in a library with a full film crew recording us leaping over tables and vaulting walls, something we have been specially trained to do in an organised environment.
“I hope the film inspires other young people to get creative and make use of the organisations that are ready to support them where they live.”
Warwickshire Youth Arts Network (WYAN) currently has five key partners who act as a steering group. They are: Warwickshire County Council’s Youth and Community Service, County Music Service, County Arts Service (also representing Museums Libraries and Heritage), Arts in Warwickshire Education and Warwickshire Children and Voluntary Youth Services (WCVYS) and the voluntary sector.
