IT help for young people in Rugby
Young people in rural parts of Rugby have a chance to gain nationally-recognised IT qualifications and develop their CV this half term thanks to Warwickshire County Council’s Youth and Community Service.
The three day project is open to 13 to 19-year-olds and will run from 10am to 4pm from Tuesday 26 October to Thursday 28 October 2010 at Binley Woods Youth Centre, Coombe Drive.
Participants will have the chance to gain nationally recognised IT certificates with subjects covering Word, Email, Presentations, Spreadsheets, Internet Browsing, Windows XP, Desktop Publishing, File Management and Computer Hardware.
Ian McLean, Locality Co-ordinator for Warwickshire County Council’s Youth and Community Service in Rugby, said: "During these particularly tough times, employers are looking for a wide range of skills when considering candidates for jobs.
“In many cases, IT skills are very desirable so courses such as this offer young people the chance to learn new skills while developing their CV with recognised qualifications.”
Youth workers will be on hand to support any young people needing additional help to get to the required level.
A £10 deposit is required to confirm the booking, which will be refunded once the participant has completed the programme.
