Family fun for everyone

Children, young people and families are invited to a free family fun day in Nuneaton on Saturday 16 October between 1pm and 3.30pm at Grove Farm Community Centre.

The event at Grove Farm Community Centre, Kingswood Road, is the first to be organised by the new Integrated Youth Support Service (IYSS) and it will bring together a range of agencies to provide increased local services and facilities.

A number of Warwickshire County Council and Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council departments, along with the Grove Farm Community Centre and Kingswood Community Group will be represented amongst other helpful family services.

Lots of activities are in store for visiting families and young people across all age ranges including games, arts and crafts, music, and refreshments. Police and fire officers will also be there giving children the chance to take a look inside a police motorbike and a fire engine.

Families are asked to bring a picnic lunch if they wish for the day.

Mandy McClelland, the county council’s IYSS Locality Co-ordinator for Arbury, Stockingford and Grove Farm said: “The idea behind the event was suggested at a recent meeting of the IYSS who get together every month to discuss common issues that affect their families and the surrounding area.’’

Roy Wills Grove Farm Community Centre Treasurer, added: “We hope the day will provide an opportunity for the families to get together, have some fun and make new friends. Hopefully it will be the start of an annual event!’’
