Plan B to The Crookes
There’s only a few days left to book tickets for the latest instalment of the ‘Get it Loud in Libraries’ programme at Rugby Library, supported by Warwickshire County Council.
On Monday 4 October at 8pm, Sheffield four-piece the Crookes and Larsen B become the latest acts to follow hot on the heels of a sell-out performance by Plan B back in March.
“We are really excited to get two popular artists bands so soon,” said Paul MacDermott, Audience Development Manager for Warwickshire Libraries.
“I’m sure that’s because the Plan B event was so successful. Rugby Library works really well as a live music venue and the staff there are fantastic - so enthusiastic.”
Tickets for the Crookes and Larsen B on 4 October cost £6.50, and are available from: http://www.seetickets.com, and from Rugby Library.
The brainchild of Stewart Parsons of Lancashire Libraries, the Get it Loud in Libraries project proved so popular it won national support from the MLA (Museums, Libraries and Archives) and is being rolled out across the country.
Brit Award winners Florence and The Machine and Adele as well as Bat For
Lashes and Juliette Lewis have played in local libraries since Get it Loud was launched in 2005.
Get it Loud in Libraries aims to get young people (14 to 25) - who are the lowest users of libraries - through the doors via their love of music.
Stewart explained: "The aim is to present the best of pop culture and new music in the traditional library setting, months before many of the acts break through, and also allow young people a great, often ‘first time’ time in a library."
This event has the added attraction of a BOOK SWAP with all fans being asked to come to shows armed with their favourite books to share, recommend, swap etc.
