Older people’s team short-listed

A team from Warwickshire County Council’s Older People and Physical Disability Service in Nuneaton has ‘wowed’ the judges of a prestigious national competition.

The social care staff, who work within the county council’s Adult, Health and Community Services directorate, have been short-listed for an award which rewards those who go the extra mile to provide excellent customer service.

The WOW! Awards are based purely on comments from customers – the people who use the services themselves.

Customers praised the team, led by manager Sera Bailey, for their ‘professionalism and humanity’ as well as their ‘compassion’ and ‘determination’ to meet the needs of the older people they care for.

The team, who work across Nuneaton and Bedworth, will find out how they have done on 9 November.

Cllr Izzi Seccombe, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Adult, Health and Community Services, said: “Firstly I would like to congratulate the team for this achievement and wish them luck at the national ceremony in November.

“It is just one example of the commitment and dedication of county council staff working with older people across Warwickshire.”

Sera Bailey, Team Manager, said: “We are delighted to have come this far but, more than anything, incredibly honoured that the nomination has been purely based on our customers’ feedback. Often we are dealing with customers and their carers in times of crisis and we are so grateful that they have made a special effort to recognise the services and support offered by the Older People and Physical Disability Team.”
