Dine by Candlelight

Restaurants and bars across Warwickshire are being asked to support the Save Warwickshire A Tonne (SWAT) campaign by dipping the lighting and offering a candlelit meal to customers at a reduced rate.

Businesses can back Warwickshire County Council’s Dine by Candlelight event by offering 10 per cent off the final bill on the evening of Thursday 28 October.

Each venue will be able to promote their support of the campaign and do their bit for the environment while residents will be encouraged to head out for a ‘low energy’ romantic candlelit meal.

The Rose & Crown in Warwick town centre is among the pubs and restaurants which have already signed up for Dine by Candlelight.

Cllr Alan Cockburn, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environment and Economy, said: “In previous years Dine by Candlelight has seen huge support from local businesses and residents, and hopefully more will join in this year.

“The initiative is a fun way of presenting a serious environmental message and is a chance for people to go out and enjoy a meal at a reduced rate.”
