Public health event - North Warwickshire
Inside information on current local health issues and future plans will be available to the public at a free event in North Warwickshire.
The roadshow event to showcase the findings of NHS Warwickshire’s Director of Public Health’s Annual Report, open up a forum for discussion on health matters and find out what’s happening in local communities is making its way around the county; and the next stop is Mancetter, North Warwickshire.
The report, entitled “Best Health for Older People in Warwickshire”, will be coming to Mancetter Village Hall on Wednesday 13th October at 7.30pm and residents in North Warwickshire are invited to come along to find out detailed information about health issues in their area, the services that are available and to give their views on how these can be improved.
The report found that people in North Warwickshire were more likely to smoke than in other areas and that 13.6% of the population suffer from fuel poverty – the second highest percentage in the county. It was also found that the number of people in this area with long term conditions is expected to increase by over 90% during the next 20 years.
The report, which focuses on the health of older people, has also revealed that the population of people aged over 75 is projected to increase by 102% from 4,900 to 9,900 by 2033.
Members of NHS Warwickshire’s Public Health team and other health professionals will be on hand at the event to give expert advice, answer any questions and receive feedback from the public. There will also be a number of stands detailing what is being done to improve healthy living and prevent disease.
