Unemployment advice from One Stop Shop
Local people who are unemployed or facing redundancy can get expert advice on getting back to work at their local ‘Warwickshire Direct’ One Stop Shop.
Advisers from JobCentre Plus have joined the teams at two of the district’s ‘Warwickshire Direct’ One Stop Shops, in Kenilworth and Warwick’s Shire Hall, adding to the range of services already offered.
The JobCentre Plus Advisers are at the ‘Warwickshire Direct’ One Stop Shop at Shire Hall, Market Square, Warwick, every Tuesday between 2pm and 4pm.
The JobCentre Plus Advisers are at the Kenilworth ‘Warwickshire Direct’ One Stop Shop at Smalley Place every Thursday between 2pm and 4pm.
The advisers can offer advice and support to people, whether they are long-term unemployed or are recently facing redundancy, with the aim of getting them back to work.
Advisers can help people to find the right job by matching their skills to the hundreds of vacancies that JobCentre Plus receives every day, and give hints and tips on job hunting, completion of application forms and preparing for interviews.
The service adds to the wide range of services already offered at the One Stop Shops by ‘Warwickshire Direct’ partners Warwickshire County Council and Warwick District Council, including surgeries by the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) and PHILLIS (over 50s) service.
Alison Holmes, Leamington Spa JobCentre Manager said: “We are delighted to support Warwickshire Direct by offering Jobcentre Plus advisory services through their network of One Stop Shops. We hope that people will take full advantage by calling in and finding out what is on offer.”
The advisers are able to provide “Better Off” calculations and work out how much better off someone could be if they were to take a job they were interested in.
They can also tell people about any benefits they may be entitled to if they start work and about “Work Trials” – a way of trying out a job to see if it suits, while still getting benefits.
