Don’t miss out on a school place for your child

Parents in Warwickshire are being reminded that the school application deadline is approaching for pupils starting secondary school next year.

Applications for children due to start secondary school in September 2011 need to be made by 1 November 2010.  Parents of children in Year 6 are encouraged to apply online at http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/admissions. Alternatively you may request and complete a paper application or apply over the telephone on 01926 742037.

Letters confirming allocated school places will be sent to parents on 1 March and parents will have the chance to appeal against any decisions.

Head of School Admissions, Nick Williams said: “We have more than 5500 children who will receive an offer of a school place next year.  Parents should be aware that if their applications are not submitted by the deadline they will be considered as late and allocated places after all that applied on time.

“The implication of this could mean that even if they live close to a school they might not get a place for their child if the school is over-subscribed so it is really important they get their applications to us in time.”

Full application details are available on the Warwickshire website, but more information is available from the Admissions Service on 01926 742037, 01926 742047 or email: admissions@warwickshire.gov.uk.
