Family Fun Festival to thrill Kineton
The Kineton and Stratford cluster of schools are to have a family festival of fun over half term with a massive range of activities for all the family.
The festival has been co-ordinated by the Kineton and Stratford cluster co-ordinators and is delivered as part of Warwickshire County Council’s extended services provision.
Events will take place in and around the Kineton and Stratford cluster of schools from Monday 25th October to Saturday 30th with organisers going to great lengths to provide activities for the whole family to attend together. The focus is on family fun, so adults must attend the sessions with their children.
For younger children under the age of five, a storytelling session with George the Dragon will involve dressing up and songs, older children can try their hand at making rockets from recyclables or cupcakes. For 8 year olds and over, activities include sessions on mad sciences like slime making, jewellery making, fencing, astronomy and basic animation.
There is even a session with St John’s Ambulance teaching first aid skills. With a few exceptions, courses are £1 per person to help sustain the project. Full details are available from Jo Rolls, Extended Services Cluster Coordinator – 01926 640465, rolls.j@we-learn.com.
Jo Rolls, cluster co-ordinator for the Kineton area said: “At county council forums and wherever the public get the opportunity to express their views, the same thing is said by residents of rural areas. That is, that they want activities for young people to be provided locally. This festival responds to that but is also about so much more.
“There is a danger that children living in isolated areas can become cut off from communities. Festivals such as this are not just about helping the children in the area occupy themselves over the holidays. They are about bringing families together and creating friendships and networks within communities which is a lasting benefit.”
