Gunpowder, treason and plot
The Friends of Warwickshire Record Office invite you to join them at their Autumn Lunch where guest speaker Mairi Macdonald will recount Gunpowder Plot conspirators’ tales.
Everyone has heard of Guy Fawkes, but Mairi, a recently retired Senior Archivist, Shakespeare Birthplace Trust will tell a lively story of some of the other conspirators as they meet in their Warwickshire country homes, away from the spying eyes and ears of Robert Cecil’s secret service.
Follow their desperate ride through the county to their ultimate defeat in a valiant ‘last stand’ and marvel at the ambition and folly of co-conspirators Catesby, Winter, the Wrights and their innocent dupes.
This talk, together with a two course lunch with wine, can be enjoyed at the Friends’ Autumn Lunch on Sunday 7 November from 1 pm at Leek Wootton Village Hall, Memorial Recreation Ground, Warwick Road, Leek Wootton, Warwick, CV35 7RB.
Tickets cost £13.50 and can be from purchased from Mrs Betty Sunley, 10a Barrow Road, Kenilworth CV8 1EH. Cheques should be made payable to Friends of the Warwickshire County Record Office (FWCRO).
