County prepares to Dine by Candlelight

Restaurants and bars across Warwickshire will be dipping the lighting and offering a candlelit meal to customers at reduced rates this Thursday as part of the county council’s energy saving campaign.

Establishments participating in Warwickshire County Council’s Dine by Candlelight event are offering residents a 10 per cent discount this Thursday evening (October 28) as part of national Energy Saving Week.

Each venue is doing their bit for the environment by turning the lighting down while diners enjoy a ‘low energy’ romantic candlelit meal.

Cllr Alan Cockburn, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environment and Economy, said: “The Dine by Candlelight initiative is a fun way of presenting a serious environmental message while giving people a chance to go out and enjoy a meal at a reduced rate.”

The award-winning Rose & Crown in Warwick town centre is among the pubs and restaurants which have signed up for Dine by Candlelight. Others include No9 Church Street Restaurant, Stratford Upon Avon; Merchants Wine Bar & English Brasserie, Warwick; Stratford Limes Hotel, Tiddington; The George Hotel, Shipston on Stour; and Episode Hotel, Leamington Spa.
