Remember, remember…firework safety in November
Young people across Warwickshire have been putting their drawing skills to the test in the name of firework safety.
Groups of 9 to 13-year-olds attending a number of projects organised by Warwickshire County Council’s Positive about Young People programme were asked to come up with a design highlighting key messages ahead of 5 November.
The winning design will be on display at participating schools in Stratford and all PODS county-wide.
First prize went to 9-year-old Ellie from Long Itchington Primary School, 10-year-old Macy from Bedworth Heath POD was presented with second and 11-year-old Todd from Long Itchington Primary School received third.
They will each receive a selection of prizes including goodie bags from Warwickshire Crimebeat and Warwickshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service.
Mark Bolton, Operations Manager from Warwickshire County Council’s Positive about Young People programme, said: “We have received many excellent entries which made the competition very tough to judge, all highlighting the importance of staying safe on bonfire night.
“However, we have had to pick three entries, so congratulations to those winners and to everyone who took part.
“We find that young people are enthused about issues affecting them and their communities, which is very heartening to see.”
