Milby Primary School pupil wins firework poem and poster competition
Jack Hinde aged 6, a pupil at Milby Primary School has won first prize in the poster section of the Warwickshire Firework Safety Poetry and Poster Competition, organised by Warwickshire County Council’s Trading Standards Service.
Jack will be presented with his prize at a school assembly on Friday 5th November at 2.40 pm.
The aim of the competition is to remind children about the dangers of fireworks. Every year fireworks cause hundreds of avoidable injuries. Around half of all injuries happen to children under the age of 16 years, many of whom may have ugly burn scars, for life.
Jack’s poster was chosen from over 220 entries and was the winning poster because of its bright eye catching colours and great safety message. Jack will be presented with his prize, a £10 book token, at his school and will see his poster featured as part of next year’s firework safety campaign.
Warwickshire County Councillor Richard Hobbs, Portfolio Holder for Community Protection said: "I would like to congratulate the winners of this competition and thank all those who took part. The standard of entries was again very high this year and showed just how much young children know about keeping themselves safe on bonfire night.
"I know they will follow the guidance we are providing and have a safe and enjoyable 5th of November!"
