Crime and Punishment
Anyone curious about colourful characters hiding in their family history will benefit from a Warwickshire County Record Office event later this month.
Crime and Punishment: Next Steps for Family Historians, takes place on Wednesday 24 November from 7pm to 9pm at the County Record Office in Warwick.
The hands-on session, which costs £5, will teach people how to use old records to research crime and punishment in the past.
The session will involve looking at original documents, including; charges, witness statements and other court records, constabulary reports and the online catalogue of the Calendar of Prisoners. Attendees will get the chance to practice reading these records and will learn how to find them at the County Record Office.
Rowan Fisher, Learning and Outreach Officer at Warwickshire County Record Office, said: “We’re looking forward to helping family historians pick up some practical information and interactive tips from this new workshop.”
Booking for the session is strongly recommended by calling 01926 738959 Tuesday to Saturday.
