Atherstone Library is set for a makeover and to carry out these improvements the library will be closed from Thursday 18 November reopening again at 9.00am on Monday 6 December 2010.

The library will benefit from a new layout, giving more space for stock and more space for customers to browse the shelves.  Stock will be better displayed on new furniture and our public computers will have new purpose-built furniture.

There will be more places to sit, including comfy chairs, coffee tables and study tables. New paintwork and carpets will make the library lighter and brighter.

Lots of new stock has been ordered for the library and some will be ready for when we re-open with more arriving over the following few months.  New Adult fiction titles including Chick Lit, Horror, Crime, Adventure and Family Sagas; new Adult Non-fiction titles on popular topics including biographies, travel, crafts, gardening, cookery, childcare, sports and hobbies; new picture books for babies and toddlers and stories and information books for older children; more titles in large print and spoken word.

The refurbishment will include the installation of new state-of-the-art self service machines that will give customers the opportunity to borrow, return and renew books themselves.

Jayney Faulknall-Mills, Divisional Library Manager for Warwickshire County Council, said:
”We are very excited about the proposed new look for Atherstone Library. We hope that everyone will appreciate that we need to close for this short period to enable all these improvements to be made. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause”.

“Customers can borrow or return library items at any Warwickshire library and renewals can be done on the phone, by email or online 24 hours a day.
The mobile library will be parked outside the library on Thursday 18th, Monday 22nd and Monday 29th November.

Renewals can be made via our automated 24/7 renewal line, available 24 hours a day - call 01926 499273 or by email to any of the larger libraries or online at http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/libraries
