‘Switch on’ will light up Leamington

A packed programme of events and family fun will lead up to the grand ‘switch on’ of Leamington Spa’s Christmas lights on Sunday 21st November 2010.

The town’s streets will take on a twinkly, magical feel at the big event, which is sure to get local families in the mood for Christmas.

From 1pm, The Parade will play host to local performers on the Mercia stage, children’s funfair rides and the hugely popular Yuletide Fayre.

From 3.30pm to 4pm, the Leamington Spa Rotary Club will be holding their ‘Tree of Lights’ Dedication Service.

There will then be the traditional countdown to the light switch on, led by the Mayor of Leamington, Councillor Balvinder Gill, and special guests from the Royal Spa Centre’s Pantomime, ‘Mother Goose’, on the main stage at the top of The Parade.

The town’s spectacular light display will be switched on at 5.30pm.

The Christmas lights are switched on across all towns in Warwick district during November and December. Other switch on events take place in Kenilworth on Friday 26th November (Talisman Square/Warwick Road) and Friday 3rd December (High Street); Warwick on Thursday 25th November; and Whitnash on Sunday 5th December.
