‘Switch on’ will light up Warwick
Warwick’s Market Place will be transformed for the town’s traditional ‘Victorian Evening’ before the grand ‘switch on’ of the town’s Christmas lights on Thursday 25th November 2010.
The town’s streets will take on a twinkly, magical feel at the event, which is sure to get local families in the mood for Christmas.
There will be traditional attractions including a steam carousel, horse and carriage, working craftsmen and birds of prey, along with entertainers and children’s fairground rides.
BBC Coventry and Warwickshire will host a packed programme of entertainment from 5pm until 9pm.
A lively and colourful parade, starting from St Mary’s Church at 7pm, will provide the countdown to the light switch on.
This year, the town is looking for its ‘Best Dressed Victorian’, so why not dress in Victorian costume and enter the competition, which will take place on stage at 7.45pm?
The Christmas lights are switched on across all towns in Warwick district during November and December. Other switch on events take place in Leamington Spa on Sunday 21st November; Kenilworth on Friday 26th November (Talisman Square/Warwick Road) and Friday 3rd December (High Street); and Whitnash on Sunday 5th December.
