Grotto of Giving is open
A Grotto of Giving has opened in Warwick’s Market Hall to try and bring a little festive cheer to children in need.
Warwickshire Museum, a part of Warwickshire County Council, has organised the Santa’s Grotto with the difference being that those visiting bring gifts rather than receiving them.
The Santa’s Grotto is now open in Market Hall in Warwick as part of the Warwick Christmas celebrations.
Visitors to it are asked to bring a gift rather than receive one and once donated the gifts will be distributed by Warwickshire County Council to children and families in need across Warwickshire this Christmas.
Gifts of any value, shape or size are welcome, either wrapped or unwrapped, but those bringing gifts are asked to attach a label saying whether for an adult or a child, male or female and if a child then what age it would be suitable for.
Michelle Alexander, Museum Service Manager, said: “In previous years the Museum thought it would be an appropriate seasonal gesture to have a Grotto where gifts could be donated to those in need at this time of year and last year we collected over 200 gifts! We hope that everyone will join us again this year in celebrating the Christmas period in this way.”
The Grotto of Giving opened as part of the Warwick Victorian Christmas Evening and visitors are welcome up to and including Christmas Eve.
The Grotto will be open every day during normal museum opening times from 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and there will be a special post box for you to leave your gifts in.
Please telephone the museum on 01926 412500 for further details.
