Youth Justice Service supports festive fair
Warwickshire’s Youth Justice Service is supporting an event to raise awareness of work with adults with learning disabilities in Bedworth.
The Bridgeway Centre on Coalpit Fields Road is run by Bedworth Community Support Services – part of Warwickshire County Council - and offers day services for adults with learning difficulties in the Bedworth area.
They are holding a Christmas Fair on Thursday 9 December from 6pm to 8pm to raise funds for additional projects to enhance facilities such as the upkeep of the centre’s allotments and grounds.
Young people working with Warwickshire’s Youth Justice Service regularly support the Bridgeway Centre by carrying out work as part of their reparation programme. Apart from helping with the maintenance of outside areas, the YJS has also previously built a sensory garden and a BBQ area for service users to enjoy.
The Christmas Fair is being supported by a number of local businesses and organisations such as Bedworth Football Club, Nuneaton Town Football Club and the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry, who are donating prizes for the raffle.
Debbie Woods-Powell, Deputy Manager at the Bridgeway Centre, said: “Our Christmas Fair aims to raise awareness of our work with adults who have learning disabilities while raising money for additional projects that will enhance the experience for people who use our service.“
Heather Shilling, Operations Manager for Warwickshire’s Youth Justice Service, said: “We’re really pleased to be supporting the Bridgeway Centre which provides a great opportunity for young people working with us to make a difference to the lives of adults with learning difficulties.”
