New Year, New You

Staff at Warwickshire County Council’s libraries service are welcoming anyone looking to use the New Year to make life changing moves.

Business Development Librarian Gill Colbourne, says:  “The New Year is always a time when people have good intentions.  Libraries, with their range of resources, can be a great help.

“For example, those looking to lose weight can get help from a range of books with recipe ideas, learning a new skill or for improving their health.  Libraries can be the ideal starting point to find out more and may lead to taking up a new activity for life.

“Fitness DVDs can be rented at much lower cost than buying, or can be borrowed for a week, much longer than local rental stores offer.  We have a wide range, and these are particularly in demand at the start of the year.”

As well as these resources, libraries are also have a wealth of information for anyone looking to start a new class or course or contact details for local groups.  There are opportunities for finding out about adult learning, social activities such as sports, hobbies and family history..  Reading groups remain popular with many customers enjoying the chance to share their thoughts on the books they are reading.

Gill adds:  “The New Year is a fresh page, as it were, and we look forward to helping anyone looking at enhancing their quality of life.  For anybody who feels that it is time to make a change, come along and see just how many different opportunities one building can offer.  Joining the library is free too”
