Red Box Lottery – What happens to your recycling
Residents of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and North Warwickshire Borough Council have been winning £50 by simply recycling!
The Red Box Lottery ran throughout December and January, where residents were picked at random and could win £50 if they had their recycling out for collection.
This week’s lucky winner was Michelle Randle from Bedworth.
Michelle said:
“Since having my young son I have been more aware of the need to recycle in order to save the planet for future generations. I recycle every week and seem to get through a lot of plastics which I suppose is due to having a small child and using bottles of milk. The vouchers will come in very useful.”
Councillor Bill Sheppard, portfolio holder for the Environment at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, said:
“Congratulations to our seventh red box lottery winner, Michelle. It is really important that everybody recycles to limit the amount of waste sent for disposal. There is one week left to win on the red box lottery so remember to put your recycling out next week for a chance to win £50.”
North Warwickshire’s lucky winner was Mrs Neat of Atherstone who won £50 of Planters vouchers (Garden Centre):
“I didn’t expect to win even though I do recycle. I’ll definitely use the vouchers as I need something to brighten the garden up!”
Councillor Tilly May, Chair of the Community and Environment Board said:
“I hope this Red Box Lottery competition has highlighted how important it is to recycle to protect the environment and prevent refuse simply going to fill holes in the ground at landfill sites. Congratulations to Mrs Neat of Atherstone who is our latest North Warwickshire winner and I hope you enjoy spending your prize!”
