School Holiday Activities
A whole host of activities for youngsters are on offer at Warwickshire’s Country Parks during the February half term.
From making bird boxes, to building winter dens there is something for everyone to enjoy when the schools break up from February 18.
Do you fancy yourself as a bit of a Ray Mears? Then why not try out our Wild Wood Survival at Ryton Pools Country Park. There will be a limited number of places available for all these events so book early to avoid disappointment.

At weekends and school holidays in February at Pooley Country Park
Our popular craft table will be set up with seasonal materials for children to make something to take home with them. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.

Cost: £1.50 per item.
SUNDAY 6 FEBRUARY
Snow & Soup at Kingsbury Water ParkJoin a Ranger for a Winter wander around the park, followed by a mug of hot soup in the Old Barn Café. We can’t guarantee the snow but the soup will definitely be there! Wear sturdy shoes/wellies.Time: 10.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon.

SATURDAY 12 FEBRUARY
Kingsbury Young Anglers at Kingsbury Water Park Children’s University (CU)
Angling tuition sessions to be held on one Saturday afternoon a month in February, March, October, November and December, for children aged 8 to 14 years – come along as many times as you wish and learn the essentials of good angling. Suitable for beginners or those with some experience; no equipment required.
Time: 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.
Meet: Broomey Croft car park.
Cost: £6.00 per child, per session.

Make A Bird Box at Pooley Country Park
Build a bird box to put up in your garden ready for the Spring. An ideal family event. Please bring a hammer.

Bird Box Building at The Stratford Greenway
Make a bird box to take home with you to give the birds in your garden somewhere to build their nest. A family event. Please bring a hammer.

Come along and build a home to put up in your garden for our feathered friends to use in the Spring. Please bring a hammer.

Snow and Soup Walk at Pooley Country Park

Winter Dens at Kingsbury Water Park CU
Make a winter den using branches and twigs – a great way to keep warm! Bring a snack to have in your den once the hard work is done. A family event but not recommended for children under the age of 5.

Robin Boxes at Ryton Pools Country Park CU
Make a nest box for this year’s nesting Robins. Find out some fascinating facts about these birds and where’s the best place to put up your nest box. For children aged 5 to 12 years, who must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring a hammer.

Bird Box Making at Kingsbury Water Park CU
Make a nest box to put up in your garden. Find out some interesting facts about birds and learn the best place to put your box. For children aged 5 to 12 years, who must be accompanied by an adult.

Log and Pine Cone Feeders at Ryton Pools Country Park CU
Create your own log and pine cone feeders to take home and help the birds in your garden to survive the cold winter months. For children aged 3 to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.

WEDNESDAY 23 FEBRUARY
Cheery Tree Bugs at Kingsbury Water Park CU
Drop in and create a brightly coloured tree bug using natural objects and some sparkles. Hang them in the winter trees at the park or take them home to cheer up the trees in your garden! For children aged 3 to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: Drop in anytime between 10.30 a.m. and 1.00 p.m.

Cost: £2.00 per child.
Wild Woods Survival at Ryton Pools Country Park CU
Can your team complete the challenges set by the Rangers and survive? Go through sticky webs, get over the piranha infested river, collect your survival kit and build a snazzy shelter before the time is up. For children aged 5 to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: 11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Stargazing at Kingsbury Water Park
An evening talk then view the night-time sky (weather permitting) with local experts. An event in conjunction with the Heart of England Astronomical Society.

Fantastic Frogs at Ryton Pools Country Park CU
Have some froggy fun – hunt for frogs and make a flycatching frog to take home. For children aged 5 to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.

FRIDAY 25 FEBRUARY
Cheery Tree Bugs at Ryton Pools Country Park CU
Join in with the tradition of winter tree dressing and cheer up the trees by decorating them with brightly coloured tree bugs you’ve created yourself. For children aged 3 to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: Drop in anytime between 11.00 a.m. and 1.30 p.m.

Cost: £2.00 per child.
SUNDAY 27 FEBRUARY
Snow & Soup Walk at Burton Dassett Hills Country Park
Join a Ranger on this 2-mile walk to the village of Northend via historic Mill Lane and back. Even if there is no snow, there will be soup!
Time: 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Meet: Below the beacon.
Cost: Adults £3.50, Concession £2.50 (includes soup).
