Spark set to light up Rugby Library

“One of the most talked-about newcomers of 2011” - according to the NME – singer/songwriter Spark is set to give local music lovers a treat when she brings her unique brand of electro pop to Rugby Library on Tuesday 8 March, supported by The Good Natured.

The gig is the latest to take place at Rugby Library as part of the national ‘Get It Loud In Libraries’ campaign, which encourages people to get involved with their local library through new, live music.

Last year saw successful performances at the library by Plan B and indie band The Crookes.

Spark, supported by another up-and-coming female pop artist, The Good Natured, will be taking to the stage at 8pm on 8 March.

Tickets for the gig, which has been promoted in the NME recently, are only £5 and are available from http://www.seetickets.com or can be bought at Rugby Library.

Spark is the latest artist to emerge from the renowned BRIT school, whose other recent graduates include current no. 1 artist Jessie J, Adele, Katy B, Leona Lewis, Kate Nash and even Amy Winehouse.

She shares a record label with Plan B and Marina & The Diamonds, who she has also supported on tour, and her most recent video, for the single ‘Crave’, has been directed by Mike Skinner of The Streets.

‘Get It Loud In Libraries’ is a unique project designed to give young people who love music “a damn good time” in libraries around the UK, according to the campaign’s organisers.

The project originated in Lancaster Library and has subsequently spread to other libraries around the United Kingdom, including Rugby Library in Warwickshire, with the support of Warwickshire County Council’s Library and Information Service.

According to the campaign organisers, the advantages of seeing artists perform in your local library are that there are “no age restrictions, no spilt beer, no smoke in your eyes, no rip-off ticket prices - just good music from award winning indie bands.”
