Check it out! Chess Fun for half term

A week of activities will be taking place at Camp Hill Library in the Camp Hill Education, Sports and Social centre next week.

A table football quiz and tournament for the whole family with Goalden Events kicks off in the CHESS hall on Monday 21 February at 2pm, songs and stories for under 5s and their carers in the library takes place on Tuesday (the 22nd) at 11am.

Friday’s session starts at 2.30pm and is titled ‘Cops and Robbers’.  It features Warwickshire’s own children’s author and writer of ‘My Mum and Other Horror Stories’, Meg Harper, with stories and crafts on the crime-based menu including her own “Stop! Thief!”.
The activities follow a week in which pupils of varying ages at local schools have enjoyed sessions in the library with the designer and illustrator Claire Henley, children’s writer Alan MacDonald and Dan Tunstall, local author of young persons’ novel, Big and Clever.

Anyone joining the library in or after half term and borrows books will receive a book to keep whilst stocks last. For further details of the half term activities or on how to join the library, visit http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/libraries or call 02476 757108.

Stella Thebridge, senior children’s and young people’s librarian, said:  “There is a rich programme of activities in the CHESS centre over half term following on from a very high quality series of author sessions in the library for schools.  We hope that young people and their families will be encouraged to visit the library and see what it has to offer.”
