Bermuda Goes Wild! Community willow maze events

Bermuda Village Residents Association is holding two community days at Bermuda lake on Sunday 27th February and Sunday 6th March 2011, 11am – 3pm. The aim of the events are to create a willow maze in the shape of a giant spiders web.

Bermuda Village Residents Association (BVRA), as part of the natural play scheme, Bermuda Goes Wild! are holding two community activity days.

The aim of the days are to create a natural play installation by building a living willow maze. The design has been done in recognition of the wildlife on the site and will reflect a spiders web and will hide a large spider at its centre for young people to discover!

People are encouraged to come along, in old clothes, and help plant willow and learn to weave it into the walls of the maze.  Local green wood artist Spencer Jenkins will be on hand to provide the expertise and oversee the work.

Bob Chambers, Chair of BVRA says “This should be great fun and l encourage everyone, young and old, to come and learn more about willow and willow weaving. Please come along and give us a hand”

The project is fully funded by Big Lottery Fund’s Community Spaces programme.

Find us at Bermuda Lake, the far side by Dairy Crest, on Sunday 27th February and Sunday 6th March, 11am – 3pm, at Bermuda Lake. Further information please ring Catherine Marks 024 7638 7279.

- new welcome signs to the village
- liaison with Deeley’s on land issues and future developments
- new information signs at the Lake telling people about the history and wildlife of the site
