British Sea Power sell out at Rugby
Epic indie-rockers British Sea Power’s gig at Rugby Library tomorrow night has sold out – but there will be another opportunity to catch live music at the library next week!
Tomorrow’s (Friday 4) gig will see more than 300 fans pack into the Little Elborow Street venue to hear British Sea Power play tracks from their critically acclaimed new album, ‘Valhalla Dancehall’.
The band, who have been headlining their own UK tour, recently added the library date to their schedule in support of the ‘Get It Loud In Libraries’ campaign, which encourages people to get involved with their local library through new, live music.
But fans of live music in Rugby needn’t be disappointed, as there will be another opportunity to witness some of the best new music in Britain next week, when hotly-tipped new electro pop acts Spark and The Good Natured play the library on Tuesday night (8 March).
Spark, a.k.a. Jess Morgan, has been described as “one of the most talked-about newcomers of 2011” by the NME, and is the latest artist to emerge from the renowned BRIT school, whose other recent graduates include current no. 1 artist Adele, Jessie J, Katy B, Leona Lewis, Kate Nash and even Amy Winehouse.
Her new single ‘Crave’, which received air play and praise for Radio 1’s Jo Whiley last week, is released on 14th March.
Spark will share the stage with up-and-coming electro pop band, The Good Natured, who are fresh from supporting Ke$ha on tour.
They are acquiring fans in all the right places, being embraced on Radio 1 by Nick Grimshaw, Jo Whiley and Fearne Cotton as well as being playlisted on BBC 6Music and XFM.
Tickets for the gig, which has been promoted in the NME recently, are only £5 and are available from http://www.seetickets.com or can be bought at Rugby Library.
‘Get It Loud In Libraries’ is a unique project designed to give young people who love music “a damn good time” in libraries around the UK, according to the campaign’s organisers.
The project originated in Lancaster Library and has subsequently spread to other libraries around the United Kingdom, including Rugby Library in Warwickshire, with the support of Warwickshire County Council’s Library and Information Service.
According to the campaign organisers, the advantages of seeing artists perform in your local library are that there are “no age restrictions, no spilt beer, no smoke in your eyes, no rip-off ticket prices - just good music from award winning indie bands.”
