Bidford come dancing

People with learning disabilities will be among those taking part in a new arts project being launched this spring with money from the lottery.

Bidford charity Hft Arden Vale has linked up with Warwickshire County Council’s County Arts Service to successfully secure Big Lottery funding to run IN2Dance, a dance project for people with learning difficulties and members of the wider community.

Adults from Hft took part in a council-run trial project called Dance4Health and enjoyed dancing so much that the organisation decided to work with the County Arts Service to bid for funds to carry on dancing.

Organisers plan to start the dance sessions in May on Thursday mornings from 10.15am to 12.15pm at a cost of £3 per person. Hft will welcome old and new members of the local community who would like to take part in taster sessions and hopefully join IN2Dance regularly.

Cathryn Ravenhall from Warwickshire County Council’s County Arts Service said: “Our original dance sessions were so well received that we were very keen for it to continue. Thanks to our link-up with Hft and money from the Big Lottery they will now be able to offer regular dancing to the community.”

County Arts Service provides a range of services to Warwickshire residents and groups including help with funding and project support.

Phil Knowles from Hft added: “Some of the people we support took part in a previous dance project run by the county council and found it enormously beneficial and great fun, so we are pleased that our bid has been successful and we look forward to seeing the classes start in the spring.”
