More music at Rugby Library tonight!
Epic indie-rockers British Sea Power played to a sell-out crowd at Rugby Library on Friday night – and there is another opportunity to catch live music at the library tonight (Tuesday 8 March)!
Friday’s gig saw more than 300 fans pack into the Little Elborow Street venue to hear British Sea Power play tracks from their critically acclaimed new album, ‘Valhalla Dancehall’.
The band, who have been headlining their own UK tour, added the library date to their schedule in support of the ‘Get It Loud In Libraries’ campaign, which encourages people to get involved with their local library through new, live music.
Fans of live music in Rugby will be pleased to hear that there is another opportunity to witness some of the best new music in Britain tonight, when hotly-tipped new electro pop acts Spark and The Good Natured play the library.
Spark, a.k.a. Jess Morgan, has been described as “one of the most talked-about newcomers of 2011” by the NME, and is the latest artist to emerge from the renowned BRIT school, whose other recent graduates include current no. 1 artist Adele, Jessie J, Katy B, Leona Lewis, Kate Nash and even Amy Winehouse.
Her new single ‘Crave’, which has received air play and praise from Radio 1’s Jo Whiley, is released on 28th March.
Spark will share the stage with up-an-coming electro pop band, The Good Natured, who are fresh from supporting Ke$ha on tour.
They are acquiring fans in all the right places, being embraced on Radio 1 by Nick Grimshaw, Jo Whiley and Fearne Cotton as well as being playlisted on BBC 6Music and XFM.
The gig starts at 8pm tonight and is FREE entry on the door.
‘Get It Loud In Libraries’ is a unique project designed to give young people who love music “a damn good time” in libraries around the UK, according to the campaign’s organisers.
The project originated in Lancaster Library and has subsequently spread to other libraries around the United Kingdom, including Rugby Library in Warwickshire, with the support of Warwickshire County Council’s Library and Information Service.
According to the campaign organisers, the advantages of seeing artists perform in your local library are that there are “no age restrictions, no spilt beer, no smoke in your eyes, no rip-off ticket prices - just good music from award winning indie bands.”
