Representatives of Warwickshire County Council, Warwick District Council and Warwickshire Police gathered at Kenilworth Library and ‘Warwickshire Direct – Kenilworth’ to check on progress since a recent refurbishment.
The refurbishment of ‘Warwickshire Direct – Kenilworth’ in Smalley Place included an improved seating and newspaper area and more space for books to be displayed. Brand new state-of-the-art self service machines were installed, enabling customers to borrow, return and renew books themselves.
The building also provides the front office services for Warwickshire Police, which were formerly delivered from the police station next door. Customers with any enquiries about county council services
Cllr Peter Butlin, cabinet member for Warwickshire County Council, said: “Integrating our services with the district council and the Police has already been tested and proved popular in Warwick. We’re delighted to be doing the same for the residents of Kenilworth.”
Cllr Les Caborn, deputy leader of Warwick District Council, said: “We deliver a wide range of services to customers in Kenilworth with partners in Libraries and Customer Services. The development of the library and the links being created with the Police are making this a focal point of the community and an increasingly invaluable resource for the community.”
Supt Adrian McGee, Head of Customer Contact at Warwickshire Police said:
“Warwickshire Police has reviewed all policing services and the facilities required to support them. This includes front offices at police stations. When we measured the demand for Kenilworth police front office services we found it only received a daily average of seven to eight visitors during an eight hour period.
"These changes enable us to make better use of our resources and thus provide a more effective and efficient service to the public and we welcome this opportunity to team up with Warwickshire County Council and Warwick District Council to offer this kind of service in Kenilworth and feel sure that the local community will benefit.
“Warwickshire Police is committed to dealing with every enquiry by delivering the right service, first time and providing local people better access to facilities when they need them most.”
