In Digital Switchover Year - Look for the Logo

In digital switchover year, Warwickshire County Council’s Trading Standards Service has been working with local businesses to combat the fraudulent use official digital logos and protect consumers.

Trading Standards Officers are advising consumers to use Registered Digital Installers who can be identified because they are entitled to use the ‘digital tick’ and ‘Aeri Al’ images.

Officers have contacted registered businesses to ensure that they are using the logos properly whilst maintaining a look out for traders who may be using the official logos illegally. The Service is also working closely with Registered Digital Installer licensing body to prevent logo misuse.

Officers are also working with registered installers to help them provide the best possible customer service, in particular by ensuring that they are giving consumers their cancellation rights,

If a customer signs a contract away from a traders business premise (for example at their home or their own workplace or at another individual’s home) the consumer has 7 days in which to change their mind and cancel.

Warwickshire County Councillor Richard Hobbs, Portfolio Holder for Community Protection said:

“It is important in this year of digital switchover, that consumers who require new digital aerials or other digital equipment can be confident that when they see the digital logos, they are dealing with a registered installer.

Our work is helping to protect consumers and registered businesses from those that might seek to use the logos illegally”.
