Musical showcase in Warwick
Eight performance groups from the County Music Service show their stuff later this month with a weekend line up of high level entertainment.
The first event, compered by County Music Service Director Andrew Atkins, will be the Big Gig on Saturday 26 March. This will be café style concert, featuring wind, brass, rock, jazz and steel pan bands.
On Sunday 27 March an Afternoon Tea Chamber Music Concert will be given by some of Warwickshire’s most talented pupils. The event will feature Warwickshire’s nationally acclaimed Early Music groups (Youth Waits and Gutted!), performances of two concertos by Telemann for viol and recorder (accompanied by Youth Orchestra Chamber Strings), and the Youth Orchestra String Quartet and Wind Quintet.
A Classical Concert will take place on Sunday evening where the County Youth Orchestra and the County Youth Chorale will join together to perform Zadok the Priest, and Helen Gillespie (formerly a member of WYO) will perform Beethoven’s 1st Piano concerto. The programme will also include the Rienzi Overture by Wagner.
