Young Firefighters celebrate awards success!

Young people from across the county have been celebrating their success at the Young Firefighters Association (YFA) annual awards ceremony.

The presentation evening took place on Monday 14 March at North Leamington School, Sandy Lane, Leamington Spa.  Awards were given for one, three and five years, service in the young firefighters Association.  Awards were also given for the Young Firefighter of the Year and Instructor of the Year. The awards were presented by the Lord Lieutenant, Martin Dunne, the High Sheriff, Richard Hardy, Councillor Richard Hobbs and the Chief Fire Officer, Graeme Smith.

County Fire Officer, Graeme Smith said:
“I would like to pay tribute to all of the young firefighters who attended the event. It was great to be able to celebrate their success with them and an honour to present the awards. The evening went really well and was a clear reflection of the hard work and dedication of not only the young firefighters, but to all those involved in working with our young people.”

Portfolio Holder for Community Protection, Councillor Richard Hobbs said:
“I would like to congratulate all of the young people who received awards. The presentation evening was a great success, with over 100 young people receiving awards. It shows just how dedicated the young people in the Young Firefighters Association are and I hope that continues.”   


The Young Firefighter of The Year Award and the Instructor of The Year Award became a family affair with a winning mother and daughter team from Alcester YFA. Jasmine Lewis received the YFF of the Year Award her mum, Tracy Lewis received Instructor of the Year Award.
