Hospice cash from business brained youngsters
Young entrepreneurs of the future have been putting some creative and innovative money making schemes into action – all in aid of Nuneaton’s Mary Ann Evans Hospice.
The talented youngsters have been taking part in the Jaguar Social Enterprise Challenge which has been organized and co-ordinated for the fifth year running by the Warwickshire Education Business Partnership, a part of Warwickshire County Council, and sponsored by Jaguar.
The Nuneaton–based hospice is set to discover just how well the young entrepreneurs from five schools in Nuneaton, Bedworth and North Warwickshire have done at a Final Presentation Event on Tuesday, 29th March, 2011.
The five schools will present the hospice with funds the students have raised over the course of the last three months using a host of methods to turn £50 into as much as possible.
The challenge was started off at a launch event during National Enterprise Week in November 2010 where the selected students from the five competing schools were presented with £50 from April Wickens of Jaguar.
The challenge for the students was to turn this initial float of £50 into as much money as possible for the Hospice. The students had to use their enterprise skills to come up with the most original fundraising ideas and will also had to prove how they have utilised their financial literacy and business and economic understanding throughout the challenge.
All participating teams will have the opportunity to present their methods and the results and there will be two winning teams – one for highest fundraiser and one for best use of enterprise skills. Each winning team will receive a prize which will be presented by His Worship The Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth along with April Wickens of Jaguar and Janet Kavanagh of the Mary Ann Evans Hospice.
April Wickens, Community Realations Officer for JLR, said: “Jaguar Land Rover is once again pleased to be supporting this challenge. Linking an enterprise challenge with a local charity is very rewarding for the young people whilst at the same time helping the local community.”
