Young people run out hoses with red noses!

Students from Warwickshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service’s Flare course will be running out a mile of hoses in an attempt to raise money for Comic Relief.

The fundraising event will take place at 1pm on Thursday 17 March at Rugby Fire Station. The young people taking part will run out over a mile of hose, which is a total of 128 hoses in less than one hour. The aim of the day is to raise as much money as possible for comic relief. The event will be supported by firefighters from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service as well as parents and carers. Local residents are also being invited to come along and support the event.

Moreno Francioso, Youth Development Officer said:
“Running over a mile of hose is a big task and doing it with red noses on should make it lots of fun for those taking part and for those watching. All the money will go to Comic Relief, which is a very worthwhile cause. If you can support the young people in any way, then come along on the day and donate to Red Nose Day.”

Portfolio Holder for Community Safety, Councillor Richard Hobbs said:
“This kind of event really shows how hard young people in our county are working to raise money to help transform the lives of poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged people across the UK and Africa. Running out 128 hoses in just an hour will be hard work, but I’m sure there will be lots of laughs along the way.”

Novelty cakes will also be on sale as part of the fund raising efforts.
