New centre for Rugby families
Families in Rugby with children under five will celebrate the services on offer to them as a new Sure Start Children’s Centre officially opens next week.
Although families have been able to use the centre’s facilities since October 2010, Cawston Grange Children’s Centre on Scholars Drive, Rugby, officially opens on Friday 25 March. Local members of the community have been invited to the event along with local elected members and representatives from centre services and Warwickshire County Council.
The official opening at 1.30pm includes speeches and the cutting of the ribbon by the logo competition winner. The event will be a great opportunity for visitors to have a look around the new centre and get a flavour of the type of services that will be on offer. Refreshments will be offered and guests will enjoy a medley of songs from Cawston Grange Primary School Choir.
The centre joins the network of the county’s Children’s Centres, found in local communities. It will help families by linking childcare, health services, family support and early years activities – all under one roof.
Some of the services on offer include; ‘Stay and Play’ drop-in sessions for parents, carers and children, antenatal and parenting support, information for parents, a breastfeeding support group and support for childminders.
The Children’s Centre will also offer advice about benefits, tax credits and links to employment opportunities with Jobcentre Plus.
Warwickshire County Councillor Heather Timms, portfolio holder for children, young people and families said: “This centre joins a number of local bases which provide resources to meet the needs of local families from prenatal stages until their children start school.”
Head of Centre Sheree Bailey added: “Cawston Grange Children’s Centre has become a well established centre with many local families using the services on offer. Families are encouraged to provide feedback and any suggestions they may have to help shape services for the future.”
